Some training camps come with a story. At the Uwe Seeler Fußball Park in Malente, it is one every German football fan knows. The Schleswig Holstein football association (SHFV) built this sports school in 1952, and in 1974 the German national team prepared here for the World Cup it went on to win. The team spirit forged in Malente became known as the "Geist von Malente", and the phrase returned in 1990 when Germany won the World Cup in Italy.
